GCELABJ Members Attended Meet the Media: A Mix of New Ideas

The Press Club of Cleveland Luncheon Program

The luncheon took place on March 26th at the plush restaurant Cibreo Pravato

in downtown Cleveland Playhouse Square. There was fellowship and networking among

the local media attendees and featured a Panel of (6t) journalists that included GCLEABJ's members Russ Mitchell, WKYC Anchor/Reporter, and Sia Nyorker Channel 19 Anchor/Reporter.

The other panelists were Sam Allarad Reporter Axios, Vince Grzegorek Editor Cleveland Scene, Nick Castele Government Reporter Signal Cleveland, Scott Suttell Special Projects Editor Crain's Cleveland Business and was hosted by Denise Polverine Publisher Cleveland Magazine. The

panel offered some insights on the role of social media in journalism and how to better manage

to some extent to drive more local viewership. Career approch to the students in attendance from

Cleveland State. Talked about journalism integrity with the local media and how to address

the disparaging visability of African Americans and people of color within the Cleveland media market. All agreed there is much work to do in a city that is 46% African American.
