GCLEABJ Mourns
the Passing of Mansfield Frazier

October 2021

The Greater Cleveland Association of Black Journalists is mourning the loss of our friend and chapter charter member Mansfield Frazier.  He served on our editorial and PR committees.

As an author, print and radio journalist, and commentator,  Mansfield touched so many lives across Greater Cleveland and beyond. His strong voice stirred passion, debate, and always
made us think.

A social entrepreneur, through his beloved Vineyards of Chateau Hough, Mansfield turned grapes into wine and became a powerful symbol of the rebirth in the Hough community
as well as for those seeking a second chance
in life. Mansfield Frazier was a great guy.
We will miss his wisdom, sense of humor and undeniable presence.

We send our deepest sympathy to his
beloved family.

Condolences for Photojournalist/Producer Herb Thomas

October 2021

The following message is from our president, Kevin Heard:

To all GCLEABJ members,

It is with a heavy heart that I acknowledge the passing of our brother, Herb Thomas. Herb was an award-winning producer and photojournalist for well over 40 years at WJW-TV. On behalf of everyone at the Greater Cleveland Association of Black Journalists, I would like to offer my sincerest sympathies for the loss of our brother and colleague. He was a proud supporter of our organization who graciously provided his place of business for several of our meetings.

While serving as Entertainment Editor at the Call & Post Newspaper I had the pleasure of assigning and publishing a story about Brother Herb Thomas and his Prayer Warriors (written by GCLEABJ member Bob Ferguson). I was proud to have known him, and more proud to have called him a friend.

On behalf of the entire membership, our condolences go out to his family, friends, and co-workers for their loss.
