On Tuesday, January 28 at the new Martin Luther King, Jr., Library (10601 Euclid Avenue) Domestic Violence Advocate Laura Cowan was on hand for an in-depth conversation about the seven-month abduction of her and her children in 1998 - and their courageous escape. Cowan’s story has been dramatized in the new Lifetime movie, The Girl in the Garage, starring Paige Hurd and Stephen Bishop.  Introduced by Kevin ‘Chill’ Heard, and moderated by Tracie Potts, Cowan spoke openly about her ordeal and offered insight on several scenes from the film.

Cowan, Heard and Potts are all members of the Greater Cleveland Association of Black Journalists.
