GCLEABJ to host screening of NABJ documentary September 20


CLEVELAND - On Saturday, September 20th, the Greater Cleveland Association of Black Journalists (GCLEABJ) is honored to host a screening of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) highly anticipated documentary “Beyond The Headlines: The NABJ Journey.” The screening will start at 4 p.m. and run approximately 45 minutes at the Atlas Cinemas in Shaker Square, located at 13116 Shaker Square, Cleveland, 44120, as part of the 14th Annual Greater Cleveland Urban Film Festival. This event is FREE and open to the public. 


There will be a Q&A discussion directly following the screening, which will be led by members of the local chapter. The documentary pays homage to the 50-year history of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), and the impact, purpose and vision of the founders. Directed by James Blue III and produced by Storyboard Studios, in collaboration with the NABJ, the documentary also provides an in-depth look into the organization's legacy of resilience, stick-to-itiveness and determination to ensure black stories were told in a fair and unbiased way. 

Beyond The Headlines: The NABJ Journey” has already won numerous awards, including the Henry Hampton Award for Excellence in Documentary Filmmaking at the Roxbury International Film Festival.
