CLEVELAND — A big congratulations to 3News’ Leon Bibb as he was inducted with the inaugural class of the Greater Cleveland Association of Black Journalists Hall of Fame on Saturday night.
The ceremony was held at the Cleveland History Center, welcoming the first class of 12 members.
“Nominations were open to the community at large,” according to the Greater Cleveland Association of Black Journalists. “Any journalists who have worked at media outlets in the greater Cleveland market (including Summit County) living or deceased, were eligible for induction. Final inductees were voted on and selected by current GCLEABJ members.”
The organization also recognized media professionals for their exemplary work over the past year, including 3News’ photojournalist Craig Roberson and reporter Bryant McCray.
This summer, Cleveland will host the National Association of Black Journalists Convention and Career Fair from Aug. 6-10, celebrating the organization’s 50th anniversary.
“GCLEABJ is comprised of print, radio, TV and digital journalists as well as public relations and communications professionals from across Northeast Ohio,” according to the organization’s site. “Its mission is to serve and strengthen the community by honestly reflecting the past, accurately reporting the present, and providing support, inspiration, fellowship and opportunities for journalists of color.”
